Eighth-grade student Ty’riek Harrelson and seventh-grade teacher Ms. Branagan celebrate Ty’reik’s election as Student Government Association (SGA) President.

Over 260 Charter Day Middle School students turned out to vote for this year’s representatives. In addition to Ty’riek as President, Alyssa Albertson won Vice President, Noah Craven won Secretary, and Nami Baggett won Treasurer. Twelve further middle school students were elected as representatives – four from each grade.

Ty’riek commented, “I feel great! I love politics and have great respect for all my fellow candidates. My goal is to add something positive to our school. Charter Day School allows you to express yourself in a comfortable environment. I want to give back to our great community at Charter Day School.  “

Laurie Benton, Headmaster of Charter Day School, commented, “We are proud of Ty’riek and every brave student who ran for office. Student Government builds vital character traits such as leadership, responsibility, and civic duty. We teach our students these qualities every day at Charter Day School.
